ἄλλος other.—ὁ ἄλλος in the singular usually means the rest (ἡ ἄλλη Ἑλλάς the rest of Greece); in the plural. the others (οἱ ἄλλοι Ἕλληνες the other (ceteri) Greeks, but ἄλλοι Ἕλληνες other (alii) Greeks). A substantivized adjective or participle usually has the article when it stands in apposition to οἱ ἄλλοι: τἆλλα τὰ πολι_τικά
