Prolēpsis (πρόληψις taking before) in the case of objective predicate adjectives or nouns is the anticipation of the result of the action of a verb. Examples in 1579.

On the prolepsis of the subject of dependent clauses which is put into the main clause, see ^cross2182. So in “Consider the lilies of the field how they grow.” Prolepsis is also used to designate the anticipation of an opponent's arguments and objections. One variety is prodiorthōsis or preparatory apology (P. A. 20e, D. 18.199, ^cross256).
