An alternative question may follow upon a simple direct (or indirect) question. Thus, πόθεν πλεῖθ' ὑγρὰ κέλευθα; ἤ τι κατὰ πρῆξιν ἤ μαψιδίως ἀλάλησθε; whence do ye sail over the watery ways?
