Two sigmas brought together by inflection become ς: βέλεσι for βέλες-σι missiles, ἔπεσι for ἔπες-σι words ( ^cross98), τελέσαι for τελές-σαι (from τελέω accomplish, stem τελες-).

a. σς when = ττ ( ^cross78) never becomes ς.
