ὑποστρέφωὑποστρέφω,

   A turn round about or back, ἵππους Il.5.581, cf. 505; πάλιν ὑ. βίοτον εἰς Ἅιδαν E.HF736 (lyr.); ὁ κισσὸς . . Βακχίαν ὑποστρέφων ἅμιλλαν bringing back the Bacchic struggle, i. e. the swift and eager dance, S.Tr.220 (lyr., s. v.l.).    2 roll up, Arist.Pr. 895b10 (Pass.).    3 Pass., revolve beneath, τινι Arat.73: c. acc., Id.512 (better γαῖαν ὕπο σ.).    II intr., turn about, esp. of persons flying or retreating, Il.12.71, Hdt.7.211,9.14, Th.3.24; φύγαδ' αὖτις ὑ.
