ἁβρός perhaps the same root as ἥβη α short by nature delicate, graceful, beauteous, pretty, Anacr., etc.: of things, splendid, Pind.—Very early the word took the notion of over-delicate, dainty, luxurious; hence neut. as adv. ἁβρὰ παθεῖν to live delicately, Solon; ἁβρὰ παρηΐδος ἁβρὰν παρηΐδα, Eur.; ἁβρῶς and ἁβρὸν βαίνειν to step delicately, id=Eur.
